Dr. Mike Bohl M.D.

Michael Stavis Bohl, better-known as Dr. Mike Bohl, is a New York City-based doctor who currently works as a medical journalist.

Dr. Bohl first entered the world of medical journalism in 2015. This was when he first started working as a Medical Student Producer for The Dr. Oz Show. He worked here as part of the Medical Unit, and his main responsibility was to ensure the medical accuracy of the show during its seventh season.

Dr. Bohl’s Experience

Dr. Bohl currently works as a Senior Medical Writer at Ro – a growing telehealth company. His role here involves writing and editing content, including physician guidelines, treatment plans, informational articles, as well as other online content.

Since 2017 and following his success on The Dr. Oz Show, Dr. Bohl has been working as Medical Editor/Writer for DoctorOz.com. His role involves performing research, writing original content, and verifying articles, videos, and other posts for the website.

Between July 2018 and June 2019, Dr. Bohl completed his medical internship in internal medicine at NYU Langone Health in New York. Here his training was focused on community health and treating underserved populations in Brooklyn, NY.

During his time at NYU Langone Health, he continued his work in medical journalism by acting as the MedEd Outreach Chair for the Core IM Podcast. This is an internal medicine podcast on iTunes that is geared towards medical education for medical professionals.

He also wrote articles for Clinical Correlations, which is the NYU Langone Online Journal of Medicine, and even produced a video series geared towards medical education for patients.

Dr. Bohl’s Education

Dr. Bohl began his medical training at Brown University back in 2011. This is where he was accepted to the Program in Liberal Medical Education – a combined B.A./M.D. program. He attended the Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University in Providence between August of 2011 and May 2017.

Between 2013 and 2014 he spent the academic year on Fellow Status conducting research and between 2015 and 2016 he spent the academic year on the Academic Scholars Program working for the Dr. Oz show.

During his first and second year, Dr. Bohl participated in a research study that was entitled “Internal Implementation and External Field Testing of Sex and Gender-based Medicine Online Multimedia Educational Studies.”

Prior to his time spent at the Warren Alpert Medical School studying towards his medical qualification, Dr. Bohl was enrolled at Brown University between 2007 and 2011, where he achieved his Bachelor of Arts B.A., Egyptian and Ancient Western Asian Archaeology. This was the B.A. qualification that preceded his M.D. as part of the Liberal Medical Education (B.A./M.D. program).

Between August 2017 and October 2018, Dr. Bohl attended the Columbia University Mailman School of Public Health in New York. This is where he achieved a Master of Public Health (M.P.H) in general public health.

As of 2019, Dr. Bohl has been enrolled at Harvard Extension School where he is studying towards his Master of Liberal Arts (A.L.M) in journalism. He is expected to complete this qualification by 2024.
