It is fair to say that CBD has gone well past the ‘nascent’ phase and is well and truly on its way to a global takeover. It has taken far too long, but finally, we now have a potential alternative treatment for conditions such as PTSD, depression, anxiety disorders, chronic pain, epilepsy, and much more.

Just to be clear, there is still a LOT of research to be conducted into CBD’s effects, both good and bad. But much of it is promising so far. Select CBD (or what was currently known as ‘Select’… the brand is now known as ‘Social CBD’) is one of the biggest players in the industry so far. Let’s check them out and see if they deserve their hefty reputation.

Who is Select CBD (aka Social CBD)?

This is not a ‘shrinking violet’ organization! The brand has been featured in publications such as Forbes, New York Times, Rolling Stone, and Allure. As a result, there are no doubts about the authenticity of Select CBD. It is an Oregon-based outfit that won Leafly’s Best High CBD Product not too long ago.

Social CBD specializes in vaporizers, and each device is put through an incredible seven levels of quality control. All pens are locked away and cured for a period of 24 hours to allow the oil extracts to saturate into the wick fully. However, the company also sells oils, edibles, topicals, and more. We cover as many as possible in this extensive Social CBD review.

Review of Social/Select CBD Disposable Vape Pens

There are a total of six flavors, which have different effects according to Select CBD:

  • Lavender = Relax
  • Grapefruit = Revive
  • Spearmint = Focus
  • Cinnamon = Relax
  • Lemon = Revive
  • Peppermint = Focus

Each disposable pen contains 250mg of CBD and costs $45. We tried the Cinnamon vape pen in the hope it would help de-stress; and also, because we love cinnamon! It is a great way to microdose, and if you already use a vaporizer, you will enjoy the sensation of sitting back, relaxing and ingesting tiny amounts of CBD as and when you choose.

Each puff lasts for around 3-seconds, and you get 1-2 mg of CBD each time. We were impressed by the vapor production; it isn’t exactly like using a Firefly, but it is impressive for a disposable. Sitting in a comfortable chair in silence certainly helped, but we felt relaxed and at ease within 15 minutes of the first puff.

It is relatively expensive as it works out at $180 per 1000mg of CBD, but we classified it as a ‘treat,’ and it certainly felt that way while using it! For the record, the only ingredients aside from the CBD extract, which comes from industrial hemp, are natural essences and MCT oil. Select CBD is ensuring that you are putting good, clean stuff into your body.

Review of Select CBD Drops

Hempmeds CBD oil

According to the brand, these drops combine the pure CBD hemp extract with essential oils. It is ideal if you want to use CBD oil sublingually. There are four flavors:

  • Lemon Ginger
  • Peppermint
  • Unflavored
  • Lavender

Each bottle contains 1000mg of CBD in a 30ml bottle for $65; which represents excellent value. The peppermint drops tasted nice; a legacy of the peppermint essential oil which was added to the MCT and hemp. The oil also contains stevia, rhodiola, and ashwagandha. If you don’t like sweetened oil, try the unflavored option.

I loved the dropper because of the clear markings; a little ‘extra’ that should really be standard. A full dropper contains 1ml of liquid, but there are 0.25ml markings if you want to enjoy a smaller amount. Each ml of liquid contains 33.33mg of CBD. The drops were easy to use and seemed effective as I felt relaxed in the evening after using them.

Review of Select CBD Patches

Transdermal patches are a great way to slowly get the requisite dose of CBD each day. Select uses ‘slow-release’ technology to provide a steady dose across a period of 24 hours. This is also a great innovation for absent-minded people like me; although I only noticed the patch was still on when I went for my morning shower!

You have the option of a 60mg CBD patch for $19.99 or three for $49.99. There are also 20mg patches for $10.99 apiece of a 3-pack for $29.99. It is hard to beat the patches for convenience, and it certainly felt as if they were working. The patches were not that hard to remove either, although I wouldn’t recommend placing one on a hairy part of the body!

Convenience aside, when you look at the cost, it seems prohibitive. Even if you purchase a 3-pack of the 60mg CBD patches, which is the cheapest option, you are still paying around $275 for the equivalent of 1000mg of CBD.

What About Social CBD’s Other Products?

Hempmeds CBD review

In an intriguing development, Social CBD has teamed up with legendary talk show host, Montel Williams, to produce a specialized range. The products in question are boxes of CBD capsules. There are 30 x 50mg CBD gel capsules in each bottle for $80. You have the choice between Relax and Alert and the difference in effects occurs due to the different terpenes used in each option.

The company’s pet range consists of 750mg of CBD oil for $50. It comes in five flavors: Unflavored, Bacon, Peanut Butter, Salmon, and Chicken.

The final product is a Muscle Rub, which involves a variety of added ingredients such as menthol, vitamin E and tea tree oil. The result is a balm designed to relax and soothe those aching muscles. Each 3oz tub of rub contains 250mg of CBD for $35.

Where Can I Purchase These Items?

Visit the official website, find the ‘Shop’ option on the top of the screen, and scroll down to find the product you want. You can contact the brand’s customer support team and get a full refund if you’re not happy with your purchase. However, you must do so within 30 days of your order.

Final Thoughts on Social CBD (Previously Known as Select CBD)

It doesn’t take long for you to understand that you are dealing with a professional outfit in Select CBD. Even the website is well-designed, and it is so easy to find what you are looking for. Although I had no cause to get in touch with the company’s support team, I have found that most consumers are very happy with this brand’s level of customer service.

As for the quality of the products, it is once again obvious that you are dealing with a reputable firm. The drops are excellent value for money while the disposable vape pen was a joy to use. The patches are convenient but may prove too expensive for some. Select CBD has done well to walk the line between offering too much and ‘just enough.’ This is perhaps why their CBD products are such high quality.

Rating: 9.5/10

Select CBD Pros

  • High-quality CBD products.
  • The drops are outstanding value for money.
  • The vape cartridge is effective and easy to use.
  • Good level of choice in terms of products and flavors.

Select CBD Cons

  • Lack of third-party lab report information on the site.
  • Although the site is well-designed, there is little in the way of content.
  • The patches work well but are extremely expensive in a CBD per dollar sense.
