Mushly Doesn’t Sell Shrooms – So What Exactly Do They Sell? Mushly sells mushroom spores, which are essentially the ‘seeds’ of mushrooms. That’s not a great analogy, but the general comparison is that seeds grow plants, and spores grow mushrooms.

The company sells spores from dozens of different strains of mushrooms (including famous psilocybin-containing strains like Golden Teacher and Penis Envy). The spores come either in a syringe or a print, which I’ll talk more about later.

Mushly’s products are intended for mycology use only. That means if you buy mushroom spores from Mushly, the company assumes you’ll only be looking at them under a microscope and not actually growing them.

The Mushly website even says their spores are “only offer[ed] to researchers who plan to use them for microscopic research and identification.”

Hopefully, this makes sense.

Ok then, let me talk a little about the difference between mushroom spore syringes and mushroom spore prints.

Mushly Spore Prints

A mushroom spore print is basically a collection of spores from a particular strain of mushroom. A mature mushroom cap contains literally billions of spores, each of which can germinate to produce a mature, adult mushroom.

Spore prints are pretty easy to make. You simply cut off the cap of a mature mushroom, place it (gills down) on paper or aluminum foil, put a couple of drops of water on top of the cap, and cover it with glass or plastic for 24 hours. Spores from the cap will fall down onto the paper, and if stored correctly (i.e., cold and dark), they can remain viable for years in a dormant state.

Again, however, the spore prints that Mushly sells are not intended to be cultivated. Their intended use is for mycology only, meaning studying them under a microscope.

Mushly Spore Syringes

Mushly spore syringes contain mushroom spores dissolved in a sterile aqueous solution. Like spore prints, these spores are 100% viable and can be germinated (disseminated) and grown into healthy adult mushrooms under the right conditions. Again, however, Mushly’s only intended use for spore syringes is to study the spores under a microscope.

The cool thing about Mushly is they have a massive selection of mushroom spores to choose from. In fact, at the time of writing this Mushly review, the brand was selling spores from 36 Psilocybe cubensis strains, including Blue Meanies spores, Creeper spores, Golden Teacher spores, and more. I currently have a Golden Teacher spore syringe, but I haven’t got around yet to studying it under a microscope (I still have to get that microscope, you know).

Mushly’s website is pretty incredible, as they offer detailed information on each type of spore syringe and spore print available. Have a look around for yourself you’ll learn a ton just by browsing the site and doing some reading.

Mushly Review: My Top-5 Favorite Things About the Brand

  • They’ve been around for over 10 years. Years ago, when there were just a few other players, Mushly had already been active in the spore game for years. The brand is super knowledgeable about its strains, and they only offer the best genetics possible.
  • They’re shipping is (almost too) discreet). Mushly spore  syringes are sent in a basic padded envelope, sealed in food-grade plastic, and merely bear the label “microscopy ” If you’re not expecting the order in the mail, you may very well disregard it as junk mail. In fact, the return label simply says “Earth One.”
  • Massive strain I could be wrong here, but I don’t think there’s an online mushroom spore seller on Earth that offers more strains than Mushly. They currently have over 36 different cubensis strains, as well as several exotic delicacies like portobello and reishi.
  • Produced in a safe and sterile All of Mushly’s spore prints and spore syringes are created in a clean lab under rigorous quality guidelines. The company states there is virtually a 0% chance of spore contamination

Where to Buy Mushly Mushroom Spores Online

The best place to buy Mushly spores online is through the official Mushly website. They accept multiple forms of payment, including credit cards and possibly even nine different cryptocurrency accepted.

Mushly accepts refunds within reason, if your order is lost or very late (shipments to the U.S. come from Canada), get in touch with Mushly support, they may send you a new order free. Also, let it be noted that if you provide any inclination whatsoever that you’ll be using the spores in an illicit manner,  Mushly will cancel your order and not accept payment.

Final Thoughts: Mushly Brand Review

All in all, my thoughts after finishing this brand review are that this company is legit, knowledgeable, and, simply put, pretty awesome. I think we’re going to see a massive spike in interest in mushrooms in the coming years, and Mushly is positioning itself well to be a pioneer and leader in the industry.

If you’re interested in studying Psilocybe cubensis mushroom spores under a microscope, definitely check out their website.
