Boots CBD Full Review

Boots is a well-known chemist’s in the UK. It has long served customers as a one-stop-shop for pharmaceuticals, supplements, and beauty products. This trusted brand has been around since 1849, now possessing at least one shop in almost every British town.

Boots has been a trailblazer for some time, branching into drug research in the 20th century. In the 1960s, Boots was partly responsible for the development of the ibuprofen painkiller, for which the company received the Queen’s Award for Technical Development in 1987.

In modern times, Boots is once again making huge leaps into the future by selling CBD.

In modern times, Boots is once again making huge leaps into the future by selling CBD. This supplement has made a huge splash in nutrition circles, but it has taken a long while for it to become more commonplace. It has taken trusted brands like Boots to make CBD more acceptable in the UK. The brand began selling it in 2019, with a handful of products from Dragonfly CBD.

Since then, Boots has added numerous other CBD products to its website. At the time of writing, there are 99 CBD products available, including two from Boots’ own brand.

What Products Did We Review?

With so many CBD products available at Boots, it was impossible to review all of them. Instead, we selected to review the Boots CBD products, one of which is actually a hemp seed product rather than CBD. We also took a look at the Dragonfly CBD oils, the original tinctures listed on the Boots website, the Simple Hemp Sheet Mask (the bestselling product), and the Healthspan CBD capsules.

Although this is just a handful of products, the Boots website actually contains a multitude of consumption methods. There are muscle rubs, skincare serums, tinctures, gummies, oral sprays, and even CBD toothpaste. It covers an enormous range, so make sure you have a browse if you have time to spare.

Boots: What CBD Products Can You Buy There?

You can buy lots of products on the Boots website. Prices vary vastly depending on the product but Boots often hosts offers – you can snag a further discount by having a Boots loyalty card.

Each product offers a description in the box below. Due to current CBD guidelines in the UK, it’s apparent that the company is being cautious about phrasing and re-selling of CBD products. As such, the product descriptions may seem a bit limited in comparison to what you will find on the brands’ official websites. Nevertheless, you can find the majority of the information you need, such as milligram strength.

Boots CBD Products: Hemp Seed Oil and Muscle Gel

In the CBD category, the Boots brand sells two products, but one of them is cannabinoid-free. The Boots Ingredients Hemp Seed Oil is intended for use as a skincare product, coming in a dropper bottle that you can apply to the face, moisturizing and softening the skin.

Hemp seed oil has a variety of potential benefits for the skin since it contains antioxidants and omega fatty acids. However, it contains no cannabinoids whatsoever. Though this product should perhaps not be listed in the CBD section, it is still a fantastic hemp product. A 28ml bottle costs just £6.50.

The other product is a CBD Muscle Gel. The vegan formula contains Boots’ NaturHex complex, a blend of witch hazel, lemon oil, and magnolia bark. These ingredients, alongside CBD, work to relieve pain and lock in moisture. It’s a bit annoying that Boots does not state the CBD content anywhere on the label or in the product description – and there are no lab reports. All we know is that it is 50ml and costs £16. That’s pretty cheap for a CBD topical, so we can assume that it is a low dose of CBD.

Dragonfly CBD Oil

When Boots launched a CBD collection, Dragonfly was the first brand on the list. This British brand has an emphasis on the environment and sustainability, which is in line with Boots’ values.

The Dragonfly CBD tinctures are created using an ethanol extraction method that keeps the cost down while ensuring quality remains great. Each one comes in a 10ml dropper bottle for ease of use.

There is a list of available strengths that ranges from 300mg to 1000mg, which is a decent range of strengths to cover most users. The prices start at £19.50, too, so there is something to suit everyone’s budget.

The Dragonfly tinctures are an excellent entry point into the world of CBD for anyone looking to get started.

Simple Hemp Ultra Calming Sheet Mask

Once again, this product does not contain any CBD. It’s confusing that it is listed in the CBD section, but perhaps even more perplexing is that it is Boots’ best-selling ‘CBD’ product. At least it contains hemp seed oil!

Simple is renowned for excellent skincare, creating products that are kind to all skin types. This sheet mask contains hemp seed oil and all the goodness that comes with it, including omegas 3, 6, and 9, vitamin E, and more. It doesn’t contain any added chemicals or unnecessary ingredients, working to hydrate the skin for 48hours. It’s also non-irritating, which is a bonus for those with skin sensitivities.

One mask costs £2.99.

Healthspan CBD Capsules

The Healthspan products are among the other best sellers from Boots. Although the brand also stocks CBD drops and a night-time product, the capsules have proven to be particularly popular.

This brand produces its pills using EU hemp and CO2 extraction, conducting batch testing to verify the purity of its products. It’s a little annoying that you can’t access these reports on the Boots website; you have to go to the brand’s official page instead.

The capsules come in boxes of 30, and there are a couple of strengths available on the Boots site:

  • 192mg (6.4mg each): £16
  • 450mg (15mg each): £35

These are pretty low dose, but they could work for many users who are looking to try CBD and take a daily supplement. Overall, the capsules are high-quality and reasonably priced for what you get.

What Else Should I Know About the CBD from Boots?

Boots’ CBD line is a great step forward, but it’s not the best option we have seen. Namely, there are some issues with transparency that typically occur with large supplement stores. CBD brands will tell you exactly where they source hemp, what extraction methods they use, and publish lab reports detailing the products. Large chains like Boots often skim over these details.

Boots’ CBD line is a great step forward, but it’s not the best option we have seen.

As a result, there are no lab reports available on the website. It’s a shame that customers shopping at larger stores don’t get the same level of transparency, and is perhaps something that corporations should look to change.

For now, you can view lab reports for many of the brands sold at Boots on the official websites. For the Boots own brand CBD, though, you’re out of luck.

Boots CBD Review: Summary & Where to Buy

You can buy all of the Boots CBD collection online, opting to click and collect or have it delivered to your home. Some physical retail locations may also stock CBD, but it depends on your local shop. If you live near a Boots, it may be worth taking a trip to see what’s on offer.

All in all, the items on offer are decent. There are lots of high-quality, affordable brands on offer from Boots, so it’s a matter of browsing and choosing what’s right for you. However, you will need to read the label twice to ensure that you’re buying CBD and not just a hemp product!

Final Verdict – 6/10
