The CBD market is becoming the Bitcoin of supplements! Like Bitcoin, it is surrounded by a lot of hype, is growing at a tremendous rate with would-be investors driven by FOMO (Fear Of Missing Out), and is also poorly regulated. Supporters of both believe they are the ‘future’ of their respective sectors, while opponents of both believe they should be outlawed!

One of the latest reports from the Brightfield Group claims that the CBD market could be worth over $23 billion by 2023. However, its report also says that consumers are confused over the distinction between CBD derived from hemp, and CBD derived from cannabis. As a fledgling market, cannabidiol is also poorly understood by some, and not understood at all by others!

As a consequence, there are still far too many CBD sellers of dubious reputation. This fact is one of the many reasons why we aim to provide easy to understand reviews of different CBD brands to see if they are worth your hard-earned cash. Today, it is the turn of SOL CBD in what is an updated review.

Who is SOL CBD?

The brand hasn’t added much information in the year or so since we last checked the website. It was founded by Larry and Oksana Ostrovsky in 2015. The couple has worked as natural health advocates for almost a decade. There are two links at the bottom of the ‘About Us’ page which invites you to learn more about Larry and Oksana. However, both links lead you to the ‘About Us’ page!

SOL CBD has a Facebook page which the brand updates fairly regularly. The page has over 6,000 ‘likes’ and over 6,400 followers which are decent figures for a ‘small’ CBD firm. According to the page, the company’s HQ is in Las Vegas, Nevada. All of the brand’s CBD is derived from hemp and contains less than 0.3% THC.

Disappointingly, SOL CBD claims that all hemp-derived CBD products are now legal to purchase in the United States due to the December 2018 passing of the Farm Bill into law. While the Bill allows the legal growth of industrial hemp in the U.S., it does NOT technically legalize CBD. It is a long and confusing story which we have written about in further detail on the site.

In a bid to improve the brand’s credibility, SOL CBD also posts regular information about CBD on its website. Larry and Oksana have co-authored an e-book called The Truth About CBD Cannabidiol which you can download for free on the website.

Review of SOL CBD Tincture Oil

SOL CBD has significantly increased its range of CBD products since our last visit. However, the brand’s main product remains the CBD tincture oil. It offers tinctures in Natural and Cinnamint flavors.

There is one ounce of tincture in the bottle, which contains 1,000mg of hemp oil but just 300mg of CBD. At $65 per bottle, it is extremely expensive in a CBD per dollar sense. You can save 10% by ‘subscribing’ and having a bottle sent every one or two months for $58.50 per bottle.

You can also purchase a 2-pack for $124 or a 3-pack for $174. In both instances, you get 10% off if you subscribe. When I was on the website, it seems as if the price has been cut from $79 to $65 for a single bottle! On the plus side, the tincture is free from solvents and harmful chemicals.

SOL CBD’s tincture uses CO2 extraction to remove the CBD from the hemp, which is grown organically in the United States, and MCT oil is used as the ‘carrier.’ Like too many CBD sellers; however, SOL says that cannabidiol is legal in all states. This claim is NOT true as residents of Nebraska and South Dakota will attest.

According to SOL CBD, its oil tincture helps:

  • Protect your body
  • Boost immune function
  • Optimize brain health
  • Reduce inflammation
  • Improve your quality of sleep
  • Reduce anxiety

The huge 3600mg CBD tincture offering contains 12,000mg of hemp extract and 3,600mg of CBD in a 120ml bottle. While the smaller bottle has a 1ml dropper, the larger option has a 2ml dropper. The recommended serving size is one-quarter of a dropper, but in reality, the precise dose is up to you.

At $327 per bottle, it offers significantly better value for money than the other option. Once again, you benefit from a 10% discount if you subscribe. A 2-pack costs $618 and a 3-pack costs $867.

If you scroll to the bottom of the page of any individual product, you will see that SOL CBD has proudly displayed Certificates of Analysis from ProVerde Laboratories.

Those who have used this oil say it takes a while to work (up to two hours), but when it begins to take effect, it helps clear the mind. In high enough doses, you may feel pain relief.

Review of SOL CBD Liposomal CBD

According to SOL CBD, this product utilizes ‘breakthrough’ technology that enables CBD to get into your cells more efficiently than ever before. As a result, you benefit from a much higher ‘bioavailability’ rate. In other words, you need less CBD to provide the same effect as a larger dose of CBD from a different source.

SOL CBD offers some information into what liposomes are. They are similar to naturally produced ‘vesicles,’ liquid-filled bubbles made from phospholipids. In this product, the bubbles are filled with CBD and quickly transported through the body and reach the bloodstream without being metabolized by the liver.

Each bottle contains 30ml of liquid, 300mg of CBD, and 300mg of industrial hemp oil for $79. You save 10% by subscribing. A 2-pack costs $150 while a 3-pack costs $210. SOL CBD recommends putting four ‘pumps’ into a glass of water and drinking it once a day. There are approximately 54 servings per bottle.

With additional cannabinoids and terpenes, this Liposomal CBD may help you treat an array of symptoms via the entourage effect. Since our body is made primarily from water, having CBD oil that dissolves in water is ideal in theory. The Liposomal CBD also tastes pretty good as it offers a fruity flavor from real fruits, and there is additional Stevia herbal extract added to provide a sweeter taste.

What About SOL CBD’s Other Products?

As I mentioned earlier, SOL CBD has recently expanded its range to include several new products, although it seems to have removed its vape oil. If you don’t like the taste of CBD oil or else the Liposomal CBD doesn’t sound appealing, you can get your daily cannabidiol intake via SOL’s CBD capsules.

A 30-capsule bottle costs $69 and contains 15mg of CBD and 375mg of hemp oil per capsule. It is a convenient way to consume CBD since you can pop a capsule at any time, and you know you are consuming 15mg on each occasion. On the downside, oral consumption has the lowest bioavailability rate. Once again, you receive a 10% discount for subscribing. A 2-pack costs $129, and a 3-pack costs $179.

SOL has also launched a couple of skincare products. The CBD infused herbal balm contains four ounces of cream with 125mg of CBD in total for $47. A 2-pack costs $89 and a 3-pack costs $123. There is also the usual 10% discount for subscribers. The balm has a total of 13 ingredients. To use, rub it on the affected area and allow the power of CBD to do the rest. The balm is primarily designed to soothe aching muscles and joints.

The brand’s Organic Skincare range includes ‘Nourish’ and ‘Extra Care’ creams. The Nourish formula contains a whopping 22 ingredients and costs $69 for a 30ml package. The Extra Care formula is made with 23 cannabinoids and herbs, and a 60ml bottle costs $89.

The final product on offer is SOL CBD’s Pet Tincture. Each 30ml bottle contains 100mg of CBD, costs $31 and is specifically created for pets. Sol ensures that the same organically grown hemp is used, and the CBD is also extracted using CO2 extraction while MCT oil is the carrier oil.

Final Thoughts on SOL CBD

The last time I reviewed SOL CBD, I was convinced that it was a legitimate brand founded by two hardworking individuals. Nothing has changed on that score. If anything, SOL CBD has improved and deserves to be rated alongside the better CBD brands in the industry. While it isn’t anywhere near the biggest CBD seller on the market, it is growing and has expanded its product range.

The products are sourced from high-quality hemp grown in the United States, the CBD is extracted using the ‘gold standard’ CO2 extraction method, and the brand aims to educate users rather than just selling them the products and being done with it. I wish it would update some of its information and acknowledge that CBD is not strictly legal in all 50 American states, but it isn’t alone in this mistaken belief.

With full third-party lab testing, SOL CBD is a reputable enterprise with thousands of loyal followers. Its CBD tincture is a little on the expensive side, but it is money well spent if you believe it works!

SOL CBD Pros

  • Option to purchase a potent 3,600mg CBD option.
  • An expanded range of products.
  • Free shipping on orders over $75 and reasonable flat fees all things considered.
  • Plenty of useful information about CBD on the website.
  • Third-party lab reports are easily available.
  • 60-day money-back guarantee.

SOL CBD Cons

  • Does not ship internationally.
  • ‘Regular’ CBD tincture is expensive.
  • Only two CBD tincture strengths available at the time of writing.
