Flora Sophia Botanicals: An Intro to the Brand
Established in 2017, Flora Sophia Botanicals is one of the few American CBD companies that is true to its word in regards to small-batch craftsmanship.
These products are sourced from pure, organic hemp in Oregon and are actually made just miles from where the plants are grown in Ashland, OR. The quality of the end product is of noticeable difference compared to the big-name private labelers that make up most of the American CBD market.
With advanced degrees in neuroscience and nutrition, the Flora team has well over two decades worth of experience in herbalism.
And, of course, since Flora Sophia CBD oils are sourced and made from pure hemp, they contain less than 0.3% THC and therefore fall under the legal category as stated in the 2018 U.S. Farm Bill.
All Floria Sophia products are handpicked, handcrafted, and 100% natural.

WayofLeaf’s Top 3 Favorite Flora Sophia Products
1 – 60mg Full Spectrum CBD Oil
$ 105.00
Summary:
The first thing I noticed when opening this bottle of pure full spectrum CBD oil was its deep and rich color. A lot of big-box commercial CBD oils have a thin, liquid appearance, which is clear evidence the tincture isn’t very potent.
Flora Sophia’s oils are deeply saturated with natural hemp compounds, and they have a lovely appearance and a rich cannabis aroma that fills the nostrils as soon as you open the bottle. It’s as if you were actually out there yourself in the sweeping fields of hemp.
In terms of effects, the main thing I noticed with the Flora Sophia 60mg CBD oil was its ability to knock me out and put me to sleep. I suppose this could be a good thing or a bad thing depending on the effects you’re looking for, but if you want CBD oil to calm you down and help you sleep better, I don’t recall ever using anything better.
In fact, I actually wasn’t expecting to be knocked out so heavily after taking a single dose of the oil. I took a dose in the afternoon before finishing work, and within two hours, I was on the couch napping. I ended up cutting my day short; I was so relaxed and zoned out. Not high, just very, very relaxed and calm.

- It worked amazingly well at calming me down and reducing anxiety

What We Didn’t Love
- Nothing. This is truly a fantastic CBD oil

2 – 70mg 2:1 CBD+CBG Oil
$ 135.00
Summary:
The effects of this oil were very similar to the effects I described above, although maybe a little less potent. This is odd because this particular oil contains 70mg of cannabinoids per 1mL serving, compared to 60mg with the other oil.
To be honest, I’m not quite sure how the presence of CBG is supposed to alter the effects of the oil. I know CBG has published medicinal benefits, but again, for me, it seemed to work better to calm me down and help me sleep.
What We Loved About This Product
- Subtle hemp taste is not too overpowering
- Fantastic, effective tincture for reducing stress and anxiety
- I was able to sleep soundly through the night for the first time in weeks
What We Didn’t Love
- Effects didn’t seem to last as long as the 60mg CBD oil

3 – Muscle, Joint, and Nerve Salve
$ 60.00
Summary:
I’ll say one thing about Flora Sophia’s Muscle, Joint, and Nerve CBD Salve: it’s the only topical CBD product I’ve ever used that’s helped with leg pain from a lower leg fracture I experienced over 10 years ago.
Depending on the weather and other factors, some days, my lower shin and ankle are tremendously painful thanks to a bunch of screws, plates, and pins that are permanently there from the surgery I had years ago. I’ve never had it officially looked at by a doctor, but I assume a lot of the pain that’s associated is nerve pain. On bad days, the only thing that works and provides any sort of relief is ibuprofen.
I wasn’t quite sure how much of the pain-relieving salve to use, so I scooped out a pretty generous amount using two fingers and massaged it into my shin and ankle area for probably 2-3 minutes.
Within half an hour, the throbbing pain and inflammation had substantially subsided – the first and only time a CBD product has worked to help relieve this specific type of pain in my leg.
In addition to the leg pain, I also train martial arts several times a week (Muay Thai), and on most days I have heaping amounts of muscle soreness. Again, the Flora Sophia botanicals CBD salve was the best I’ve personally ever used in terms of actually providing real, sustained pain and inflammation relief.
What We Loved About This Product
- Rich, natural consistency from a select handful of
- One of the only CBD products I’ve ever used that helped relieve nerve pain in my post-surgical foot
- Effects lasted for several hours without wearing off
What We Didn’t Love
- It comes in a small amount and is expensive (need to reapply often)

Flora Sophia Q + A: What Our Readers Wanted to Know
Flora Sophia CBD products are made with a cold ethanol extraction process. There is much debate regarding the safety and efficacy of extraction techniques when it comes to CBD products, but in our opinion, cold ethanol extraction is by far the most effective when it comes to producing pure and potent CBD oils and other products.
Cold ethanol extraction basically involves saturating raw hemp flower in an alcohol bath, which acts as a solvent to pull out the many natural chemicals and compounds that are present in the CBD. Once the crude extract is produced, the alcohol is evaporated to leave nothing but a rich, pure, potent full-spectrum extract of cannabidiol (CBD) and other natural hemp compounds.
The company sent us three products (listed in detail below), and the long and short of it is that these were some of the best CBD products I have personally tested in years.
Flora Sophia Botanicals approached us to do a review on their products, which is not uncommon in the CBD world. We have no problem reviewing any product or brand, but like we tell every company, we will do no favors when it comes to sharing our experience with the products we tested. And such was true with our Flora Sophia Botanicals review.
The best place to buy Flora Sophia CBD products is through the company’s official website. Just type it in Google or copy/paste the link at the top of this article.
How to Choose the Right Flora Sophia CBD Product
Overall, the verdict from this Flora Sophia review is that their products seem to be the real deal. They look good, they smell good, they’re pure and natural, and most importantly of all – they work.
These are beautifully handcrafted products made in the USA in Ashland, Oregon. We all know the CBD industry has experienced massive highs and lows over the past several years, but companies like Flora Sophia serve to remind me that the true therapeutic potential of cannabis and CBD is real. This always remains true no matter how oversaturated the market gets with low-quality products from cheap, cash-grabbing brands.
- Pain relief: If you’re in need of reliable pain relief but are tired of using NSAIDs or over-the-counter meds, I would highly recommend checking out the Flora Sophia Muscle, Joint, and Nerve pain relief salve. As I said in the review above, this was the only CBD product I’ve ever used that actually provided relief for the nerve pain I get with all the rods and screws in my lower leg.
- Stress/anxiety relief: Both the 60mg CBD oil and the 70mg 2:1 CBD:CBG oil provided good stress relief and made me feel calm for hours on end. I would recommend either if you’re looking to relax, though the 60mg CBD oil is significantly cheaper.
- Improved sleep: Here, I’d definitely say go with the 60mg CBD oil. Maybe the CBG has a counteracting energizing effect, but whatever the reason was, the straight full-spectrum CBD oil knocked me out and made me sleep like a baby.
What Do Other Customers Have To Say?
Flora Sophia has a page on their website titled “What Our Customers Are Saying,” but at the time of this review, it did not appear to have any customer reviews posted. We also could not find any reviews on trusted third-party sites such as TrustPilot.
Additional Flora Sophia Products
Flora Sophia has a pretty decent selection of products in addition to the three products that we tested in this review. Their line of CBD products are all full-spectrum, meaning they do not isolate and separate – which, in our opinion, is a good thing since it means customers will enjoy the “entourage effect” that some research suggests boosts the potency of hemp-derived cannabinoids.
The brand is also one of the few companies in the present CBD market that is exploring “alternative” CBD compounds, including compounds like CBDA and CBG. Personally, I do not have a ton of experience using products with these cannabinoids, but I have heard from several resources that they can provide excellent supplemental benefit.
Another one of my favorite things about Flora Sophia is their Chronic Care Program, which is designed to offer package deals and discounts for customers that use CBD consistently to manage certain conditions. This really speaks a lot about the brand, and it makes sense from the customer’s standpoint since they’re not having to order a single CBD product every time they get close to running out.
Here is the full range of products currently on offer through the official Flora Sophia CBD website:
- CBD, CBDA, and CBG oils
- Flora Sophia Specialty Packs
- CBD Gummies
- Full Spectrum edibles (CBD Honey Sticks)

In my personal experience, these products are about as good as CBD products get. They’re expertly crafted, they’re pure and natural, and I experienced a range of positive effects, including relaxation, better sleep, and muscle and nerve pain relief.
Final verdict is nearly a 10 out of 10. Maybe if they had sent the entire product range to test, I would’ve been prompted to go the full 10 (wink, wink).
