Cannabidiol (CBD) is one of over 110 cannabinoids identified in the marijuana plant. It is also abundant in industrial hemp, and it is from this plant that companies are extracting the CBD from. CBD oil is legal in most of America’s 50 states (there is some confusion in one or two localities) primarily because it contains less than 0.3% THC.
THC, as we’re sure you’re aware, is the best-known psychoactive compound in weed. CBD seemingly affects the human endocannabinoid system (ECS), but research is ongoing. As exciting as the industry is, it has been termed the ‘Wild West’ in terms of regulation; mainly because there is none!
Disreputable CBD sellers can include low-grade cannabinoids in their products and sell them to unwitting consumers. The FDA warned several CBD companies back in 2015 about making medical claims, and reputable firms now know to market CBD as a natural health remedy or even as a supplement.
We have reviewed hundreds of CBD brands and will continue to do so. We urge you to read these reviews, to help you continue to be a consumer rather than being a ‘mark.’ Today, it is CBDMedic’s turn to be put through its paces.
Who is CBDMedic?
If you go to the ‘About Us’ section of the website, you don’t get a great deal of information about CBDMedic. Fortunately, it didn’t take much digging to discover that the brand is part of the Abacus Health Products Inc. family, which also owns CBD Clinic. Abacus was launched in 2014 as a subsidiary of Aidance Scientific, which itself was formed in 2004.
In any case, Abacus’ goal is to create a line of CBD hemp extract OTC topical analgesics that work faster, longer, and better than anything else on the market. In a recent interview, Abacus’ CEO, Perry Antelman, told Drug Store News that all CBD in CBDMedic’s products comes from industrial hemp plants and contains 0.0% THC.
On the website, CBDMedic claims that its products use completely new technology to deliver fast, powerful, and safe relief via its topicals. Apparently, the technology includes 100% natural emollients which leads to quicker and deeper absorption of its topicals. Also, the products don’t contain steroids, synthetic fragrances, phthalates, parabens, petrolatum, or artificial dyes. It sounded good, so what happened when I actually tried the products!
Review of CBDMedic Active Sport Topicals
There are three separate products, and I tried the 40gram tube which cost $49.99. First thing’s first: The product does NOT tell you how much CBD is in it which is utterly bizarre. You have to go to the FAQ to find out the answer. For the record, all 40g products contain 1600 mg of CBD oil, 25g products have 1000mg, while 20g products have 800mg. In other words, there is 40mg of Cannabis Sativa L Oil per gram of topical.
The Active Sportcream has an oil-based formula and contains 15% menthol and 10% camphor. Other ingredients include organic beeswax, clove oil, tea tree oil, eucalyptus oil, and peppermint oil. I get sore biceps after weight training, so applied some to that area. I can inform you that you will feel a slight burn due to the menthol and other ingredients.
Within about 10 minutes, the effects began to kick in. You will feel an icy-hot sensation for around 45 minutes. At this point, your muscles and joints should still feel loose. It is an excellent option for athletes who regularly succumb to muscular pain; it is especially useful for anyone serious about weightlifting.
Also in the Active Sport range are the solid sportstick which costs $39.99, and a handy 10-pack of Endurance for $39.99 which comes in convenient 3g packets if you want pain relief on the move. The SportStick contains 200mg of CBD hemp extract, and you rub it on your arms, legs, or shoulders.
The Endurance packets can be opened at any time if you need rapid pain relief. It is certainly a good idea to bring one if you tend to cramp up after a long sports session.
Review of CBDMedic Back and Neck
This is a similar product to the Active Sport range except it is designed for anyone with severe pain in their neck and back area. There are probably millions of people who fit into that bracket: Anyone who works in an office or a job that demands physical labor will probably suffer from neck or back pain at some point.
This 40g tube contains 1600 mg of CBD for $49.99 which is extremely reasonable for a topical. Once again, it contains 10% camphor and 15% menthol which helps explain the burning sensation you feel when using it. To be clear, it is a very pleasant sensation, and you will feel far less tense.
However, a glance at the list of ingredients told me something: The back and neck cream is the same as the Active Sport cream! The ingredients are identical and even written in the same order on the CBDMedic website. In other words, you can use this product to help ease sports injuries, and the Active Sport product to alleviate neck and back pain!
Review of CBDMedic Arthritis Cream
You have the option of a 40g tube or pump for $39.99. Both products are water-based and designed to provide fast and deep relief from the inflammation caused by arthritis. The products contain 10% menthol and 10% camphor. The ingredients are slightly different from the other two products.
The arthritis cream doesn’t have beeswax, and it contains Shea butter and purified water. Once again, all you have to do is rub it on any affected areas, and you will benefit from immense relief.
Where Can I Find CBDMedic Products?
Go to the official CBDMedic website and visit the Shop page. All of the company’s orders are shipped using USPS Priority Mail. If you place the order before noon on a weekday, the product will be shipped on the same day. Otherwise, they are shipped on the following day. No orders are processed at the weekend.
There is also a 30-day money back guarantee if you are not happy with any CBDMedic product. One note, refunds are issued minus the cost of shipping, so it is not technically a full refund.
Final Thoughts on CBDMedic
CBDMedic have decided to stick to the topicals market, and this is something they do well. The products offer excellent value for money, and you should feel the benefits within 10-15 minutes. Although the pleasant warming sensation only lasts for approximately 45 minutes, your muscles should feel relaxed for hours.
I recommend Active Sport or the Back and Neck creams for muscle pain since they are effectively the same product! The arthritis product is the better option if inflammation is a major problem. Overall, CBDMedic is a solid brand. It doesn’t have a huge range, but for what it does, it excels.
- All of the topicals provide a soothing sensation, relax your muscles, and reduce inflammation.
- Very good value for money.
- Fast shipping.
- 30-day money back guarantee.
- The brand only sells topicals.
- The Active Sport and Back & Neck creams appear identical.
