Residents of the United States realize that the nation’s CBD market is booming. They also bemoan the complete lack of regulation. You may not believe it, but it is a similar situation in Europe! Analysis by the Brightfield Group shows that the European CBD market will grow by 400% within four years!
A combination of a lack of consumer knowledge and odd regulations means that the landscape is confusing. At a CBD Expo in Berlin in July 2019, the continent’s industry leaders lamented the state of the market. Dr. Marjeta Cesen of Pharmahemp, one of Europe’s oldest CBD sellers, admitted that the brand couldn’t meet the current demand.
She also said the market was full of CBD products in the ‘grey zone.’ Growing demand means the authorities are unable to keep up with all of the companies selling products. Rather than delving into legislation in Europe, it is easier to state that consumers have to be wary when investing in CBD.
I have tried several CBD brands, and Canzon CBD asked WayofLeaf to review its products. As I live in Europe (Ireland to be precise), it fell on me to conduct the investigation. For clarity and honesty, I must state that I received the samples free of charge. However, they did not pay us to create a review. I did not get to try the e-liquid because I don’t have a vaporizer at present.
Who Is Canzon CBD?
The brand follows the tried and trusted method of revealing as little about itself as possible! I have it in my head that Canzon is an Italian company but don’t know for sure. Its address is in the Grand-Duchy of Luxembourg, a tiny European nation/principality. The firm is a member of the Cannabis Trades Association, which is reassuring.
The brand claims that it uses no pesticides or chemicals in its products, so everything is natural and organic. Canzon’s products are certified organic and meet relatively strict European organic farming standards. Fortunately, the brand also supplies full third-party lab reports, which instantly boosts its credibility.
The CBD industry contains all manner of charlatans that promise the Earth. It is a sleazy sales tactic, especially since researchers continue to perform studies on the compound. What I really like about Canzon is the lack of lofty claims. Aside from questionable puns (Oil My God), the brand comes across as humble and seems like it genuinely believes in its mission of keeping things simple.
The slogan: “We Just Might Help You” sums up the brand, and I mean that in a positive way. It believes in finding a natural way to handle ailments but wants you to judge for yourself rather than forcing a sales message down your throat. The website has some decent information about CBD and the endocannabinoid system, and the FAQ page is reasonably useful.
Review of Canzon CBD Oil
There is a total of four products in different strengths and sizes:
- 5% in 10ml Bottle: €42
- 5% in 30ml Bottle: €104
- 10% in 10ml Bottle: €74
- 10% in 30ml Bottle: €184
The largest bottle offers 3,000mg of CBD. I received a bottle of each of the 5% and 10% 10ml options. It contains coconut oil along with the hemp extract. As is often the case, I went for the strongest option, the 10% oil. In the past, I found that 20mg of CBD per day does little. Therefore, I decided to take 25mg twice a day to get 50mg daily.
The bottle recommends that you shake well before use. It is a brown oil that carries a potent hemp smell. I could smell the plant! So far, so good! It tastes about as strong as it smells. It has an extremely bitter taste that takes some getting used to. The dropper is a bit of a pain to use and didn’t do a fantastic job of allowing me to get the right amount.
Although it isn’t my favourite taste in the world, that’s the reality when you get potent oil derived from hemp with no sweeteners or flavours. You have to pay the cost if you want to go fully organic! I first used 25mg of it a week ago at around 1 pm. Although I was tired, I comfortably jogged three miles a couple of hours later.
I continued the 2 x 25mg dosage the following day, but by now, I had a head cold, so it was tough to ascertain the effects. After I recovered, I put Canzon to its biggest test. Early on a Sunday morning, I woke up with a severe headache. I immediately tried 25mg of the oil instead of pharmaceutical drugs.
The pain was probably a ‘9’ at that point. Within 15 minutes, the pain eased off to a ‘5’ or ‘6,’ I would say. After 40 minutes, I had little more than a background headache with minimal pain. Suffice to say; I was very impressed. By the way, the oil contains less than 0.2% THC and is suitable for vegans.
It is also full-spectrum, which means it has other cannabinoids, including CBN, CBC, and CBG. The 10% CBD oil, for example, has 0.17% THC, 0.2% CBC, 0.1% CBG, and 0.08% CBN, according to the lab report. Finally, I liked the packaging — a nice, neat professional design. However, I believe the boxes are a bit flimsy; although the damage I caused could be down to my ham-fistedness!
Review of Canzon CBD Balm
I’ll confess that I didn’t use the CBD balm as much, although I was happy with the outcome. There is a 2% balm that contains 600mg in a 30ml package for €49.90. I received the 3% balm, which includes 900 of CBD in a 30ml container, and costs typically €64.90.
After my move to Ireland, I had to change the desk and chair in my home office. Now, the screen is too damn low, and the result is acute neck pain. When I applied a liberal dose of the balm to the area, I felt a reasonably decent effect. However, it only lasted for around an hour.
The balm has a natural greenish brown colour and the same strong smell as the oil. It is very greasy! I would advise you to wipe your hands with tissue before washing them to get rid of most of the residue.
What About Canzon CBD’s Other Products?
At present, the only other product sold by Canzon is its CBD E-Liquid range. It is available in four flavours:
- Super Lemon Haze
- Green Apple
At present, there is only one size: 500mg of CBD in 10ml bottles. Also, the Natural and Super Lemon Haze versions contain added terpenes. That is the main reason why they cost €45.90 per bottle, while the other two flavours are €43.90.
Canzon kindly sent all four flavours, but alas, I don’t have a vaporizer! I can confirm that the e-liquids contain the added ingredients vegetable glycerine and propylene glycol, along with cannabis sativa flower/leaf/stem extract. The Green Apple flavour smells absolutely amazing! If it tastes anything like it smells, you are in for a treat.
With the recent issues surrounding vaping, it is up to you to decide if you want to try it.
Where Can I Purchase Canzon CBD Products?
I have seen the brand’s products available on third-party websites, but I recommend visiting the official store. Please note that at the time of writing, Canzon does NOT accept PayPal payments, although it hopes to rectify the situation in future. Therefore, you can only buy using Visa or MasterCard.
It ships to all EU countries with free shipping on orders over €70. After you make a purchase, Canzon pledges to ship the product on the following business day. It also emails you a tracking number within 48 hours. If your product arrives damaged, take a photo and send it to the customer service team.
Canzon has faith in its products. This fact is evident in its 30-day money-back guarantee. If you find that the CBD doesn’t help you, the firm will replace the item or provide a full refund.
Final Thoughts on Canzon CBD
The brand’s slogan said that it could help me, and to be fair, its products had a positive effect. Once you get past the robust taste, you come to appreciate that it is the flavour of real organic CBD oil derived from hemp. During the first week I used it, I found that my energy levels were slightly higher than usual. I often worked thinking that I ‘should’ be tired at a certain point, yet found that I could carry on.
The real bonus was finding out how effective it was for my headache. I get quite a few of them, and I am always reluctant to use paracetamol or ibuprofen, even though both usually work well. Canzon’s CBD oil worked about as effectively and just as quickly. If you hate pharmaceutical drugs, this all-natural remedy could be what you need.
The balm was also moderately effective but didn’t work for as long as I hoped. On the products, there is a message which reads: It may feel like one, but it’s not a magical potion. I think it represents Canzon quite well. It is a brand that believes in itself, but never resorts to cheap tricks or slick marketing. Ultimately, it is very good at what it does, and I would use the oil and balm again.
