Before I begin, I would like to address a claim made by every CBD seller that uses hemp as the source of the cannabinoid. They all say the same thing: Their CBD is sourced from organic and non-GMO hemp. For the record, GMO stands for genetically modified and is definitely something you don’t want.
Here’s the thing; the hemp plant is naturally non-GMO. It is a plant that grows exceedingly quickly; so fast in fact that there is no need to add herbicides to kill weeds or pesticides to prevent insects from ruining the crop. Why? Because hemp goes so swiftly that pests and weeds don’t get a chance to cause damage in a well-tended garden.
So, the next time a CBD seller says its cannabidiol comes from organically grown non-GMO hemp, you know it is the bare minimum standard and not something to boast about. In any case, today’s review focuses on Sagely Naturals.
Who are Sagely Naturals?
As I’m sure you will be shocked to learn, Sagely points out that their CBD comes from organically grown, non-GMO hemp! The brand was founded in 2015 by Kaley Nichol and Kerrigan Behrens, which means it is an old-hand by CBD industry standards! The duo were early believers in the power of cannabidiol and put their money where their mouths were by founding Sagely Naturals.
They used the assistance of PhD chemists, along with premium grade hemp and world-class facilities, to create their products. All Sagely products are created in GMP Certified facilities, a sure sign that the company employs very high standards. Also, their products are triple tested. First of all, the raw CBD is analyzed by professional extractors. Secondly, a third-party lab tests it, and finally, Sagely randomly selects products to test for a third time.
Review of Sagely Naturals’ Relief + Recovery Range
There are four products in the range, and I only had the chance to sample two, so let’s focus on those first.
Relief & Recovery Cream
This CBD cream contains CBD-rich hemp oil, Cetearyl alcohol, glycerin, kernel oil, hemp seed oil, and numerous other ingredients such as peppermint, safflower seed oil, argan oil, and menthol. The cream comes in two sizes:
- 2oz Tub (25mg CBD): $19.99
- 4oz Tub (50mg CBD): $35.99
The peppermint and menthol are designed to provide a cooling sensation, while the other ingredients work to hydrate the skin and ensure it gets vitamin E and essential fatty acids. Just pick a sore spot and massage the affected area for up to 60 seconds. Repeat as and when you need to.
My first thought was that 25mg of CBD is practically nothing. Even so, I tested out the cream to see if I was right. It turns out that it doesn’t matter when the product is of premium quality. After the initial cool feeling, the skin around my sore bicep began to heat up; a sensation that reached its zenith after 20 minutes.
It remained at a bearable and rather pleasant level for a couple of hours. I used it a couple of times on the first day and was happy to find that the pain level around my bicep really dissipated in a 24-hour period.
Relief & Recovery Capsules
Sagely says it uses a ‘body ready’ formula to enhance the absorption of CBD and turmeric. There are 30 capsules in a bottle for $49.99, and each contains 10 mg of CBD and an unspecified amount of turmeric. Other ingredients include black pepper extract, citric acid, and rice powder.
I found the capsules to be far less effective for pain than the cream, and $50 is a lot for 300mg of CBD, even if it is in handy capsule form.
Relief & Recovery Roll-On
I didn’t use this or the next product on the list. The roll-on contains 50mg of CBD for $29.99 and is a convenient way to get a CBD boost on the go. It is effectively a headache relief product because you are supposed to apply it to the forehead, neck, temple, or shoulders. It includes peppermint oil and menthol, so expect the initial cool feeling followed by a warm sensation that shouldn’t be uncomfortable.
Relief & Recovery Spray
This is another topical and contains 50mg of CBD for $27.99. To use, simply spray it a few times on the affected area and rub it into the skin. Once again, it will offer a cooling then warming sensation.
Review of Sagely Naturals’ Tranquility Range
There is a total of three products in this particular range.
Tranquility Capsules
These are similar to the Relief & Recovery capsules insofar as there are 30 x 10mg capsules for $49.99. However, the tranquility range contains a long list of ingredients to support a healthy mood, calmness, and relaxation, including Holy Basil, Ashwagandha, Magnolia Bark, and L-Theanine.
When I used one of these capsules a day, I felt a lot calmer than when I did after the Relax & Recovery version. There is definitely ‘something’ there that helps take the edge off stress.
Tranquility Roll-On
This roll-on stick contains 50mg of CBD for $29.99 and also contains Chamomile Oil, Lavender Oil, and Bergamot Oil. This combination of ingredients is designed to encourage relaxation, improve your mood, and ensure you feel a sense of peace and calm. To use, apply it to your forehead, neck, temple, or any other pressure points you can think of to de-stress.
Tranquility Cream
This cream contains 50mg of CBD for $35.99 and also contains Argan Oil, Lavender Oil, and Bergamot Oil to hydrate the skin, nourish it, and elevate your mood. Apply it to the skin for up to a minute, sit back, and allow the calming and healing properties of the cream to take over. It seems clear that while Relax & Recovery works well for pain, Tranquility is a better option if you have stress or anxiety.
Where Can I Purchase Sagely Naturals CBD Products?
Make your way to the shop page on the official Sagely Naturals website. Please note that you will be charged a flat shipping fee of $3 on all orders of $36 or less. Sagely Naturals provides free standard shipping for all orders worth over $36. You can expect your shipment to arrive within 3-5 business days.
All orders made after 11 am PST are fulfilled and shipped the next day. The company does not ship at weekends nor does it offer its products to overseas consumers; although it says it will be changing this policy in the near future. Sagely also offers a full refund (minus shipping costs) if you return your product(s) within 30 days.
Final Thoughts on Sagely Naturals
I got the impression that Kaley and Kerrigan are true believers in the natural health philosophy. As such, it is likely that Sagely Naturals began as a labor of love and soon grew into a successful industry. While they are unquestionably trying to make money, it is clear that they practice what they preach which is great to see.
The company only uses hemp from high-quality U.S. sources, and they keep things simple by sticking to a couple of ranges. If you are looking for CBD oil, Sagely Naturals is not the right option for you. However, if you want a topical to rub into your skin, or capsules that are easy to swallow and more convenient, it is a brand worth checking out.
In terms of CBD per mg, there is little doubt that Sagely Naturals is expensive, but then again, topicals usually are. The CBD is triple-lab tested, and you can click on the link to see the lab reports.
