Just when it looked as though they couldn’t get any better, PAX Labs went and stepped up their game with the PAX 3 vaporizer – implementing a handful of updates that have ironed out the minor little niggles of the original two devices.
As the health mongers among us continue to look for “healthier” ways to consume cannabis (only time will tell if inhaling massive clouds of vapor is “healthy”), vaporizers are becoming more and more popular.
Enter the PAX 3, arguably the best portable vaporizer on the market — if you are unsure where to start with your vaping devices, you have no doubt come to the right place. We are going to be looking at the ins-and-outs of one of the most talked-about vaporizers of the year to see if it is worth the hype, the hysteria, and most importantly – the money!

Overview of the PAX 3 Company
Can you believe that PAX Labs has been around for 11 years now? The company revolutionized the vaporizing industry way before it became so popular, and they certainly haven’t looked back since. With the release of the original PAX vape back in 2007, the device was everything the cannabis community wanted. Finally a discreet, portable device that could be used and carried in a pocket without turning any heads was available to stoners across the country.
Fast forward 11 years, and PAX Labs has since released the PAX 2 and the PAX 3 (the latter of which actually came out in November 2016). With each model being better than its predecessor, the most recent updates have no joke blown the rivals out the water.
Let’s take a look at the most recent version of the PAX 3 vape to see if it is all it’s cracked up to be. This is a top-dollar device, so we advise that you really know what you’re getting into – and also know that you’ll be getting plenty of use out of it – before you go and drop your hard-earned cash.
PAX 3 Review – The Ultimate Vape Device?
If you don’t already know what the PAX 3 vape is, where have you been hiding? Well, let’s back up a little bit… we know that there are always newcomers to any market, so we have no problem admitting that this PAX 3 Review is for you.
In any regard, the PAX 3 is the most recent vaporizing device (it works with both liquids and dry herb) from PAX Labs, and it has already made quite a name for itself over the past two-plus years (time truly flies, doesn’t it?).
Don’t be fooled by the compact nature of this device; the PAX 3 outshines its rivals with an almost humorous list of features that you simply have to see to believe. Thing’s you didn’t even realize you needed are incorporated into this vaporizer in order to bring you a cannabis experience that would make your granddaddy shudder in disbelief.
- Compatible with dry herb and concentrate (vape oil, dabs, etc)
- Haptic Feedback (It tells you when it is ready with a vibration!)
- No need for buttons, PAX3 works by mouth recognition
- Half-oven chamber (all the quality with less of the herb)
- Fast heating time (15 seconds to be exact)
- Bluetooth connectivity
- Smartphone app
Even without getting into the finer details of these features, it is plain to see from face value how incredible the PAX 3 vape is – especially when we hold it up against other vaporizers that are currently on the market.
There are many stand out features of the PAX 3, but one of our favorites has to be the new and improved smartphone app; at the touch of a finger, you can now customize your device with pre-set temperature controls, battery optimization, and more.
The features of the app were always pretty decent, and the dynamic functions allowing you to change a range of settings, the details of which can be found below:
- Standard Mode | If this is your first time with a vaporizer, then this mode is probably for you. This is the most balanced mode to give you a chance to get used to the device.
- Boost Mode | Boost mode will increase the temperature of your vaporizer faster and cool it down slower allowing an increase in vapor production.
- Flavor Mode | If you are packing a delicious strain, then this mode is likely optimal. The temperature heats faster and cools faster to increase flavor.
- Stealth Mode | If you are hoping to remain as discreet as possible, this mode is for you. Stealth mode speeds up the cool-down time and lowers the LED lights to reduce visibility.
- Efficiency Mode | This mode is perfect if you are going to be out for the day. Efficiency mode works by automatically increasing oven temperature so that you can preserve battery life for as long as possible.
If all this wasn’t enough, the most recent updates to the Pax 3 vape now mean you can personalize the display to show a live temperature feed, and easily alter the color theme. The app now includes detailed tutorial videos, and the new and improved menu options are jam-packed with great features – you can even order replacement parts straight through the app.
Style of the PAX 3
Really, we couldn’t do a PAX 3 review without mentioning how sleek the unit is. By far the most stylish vaporizer out there (in our opinion), the compact anodized aluminum casing of the PAX 3 comes in a range of colors, and now even comes in a beautiful matte finish.
One “flaw” (if you can call it that) of the original PAX vape was the glossy finish that would become covered in fingerprints and even chip away if you were especially rough with it. While this was only a minor “topical” issue, PAX Labs has gone ahead and brought out a range of matte options that more or less rectify the issue.
Not only do the new finishes look stunning, but they also run so smoothly – with the fittings all magnetically attachable, the whole thing is seriously a dream to handle. From the magnetic mouthpieces to the LED battery light display (literally just shake the device to get a light display of your battery life), this is so user-friendly it almost hurts.
How the Pax 3 Smokes
We couldn’t do a complete review without describing how the PAX 3 actually burns/vapes the weed. This device is absolutely outstanding. It provides its users with a nice clean smoke and rarely induces a coughing fit, no matter how dry of a herb you are using.
You really feel as if you are maximizing the healing properties of the weed, and if you are not into rolling a joint, the Pax 3 is definitely one of the best on the market. Only time (and science) will tell whether or not vaping really is healthier than smoking, but with this unit, it certainly feels like it is.
Pax 3 Review: Our Final Thoughts
Even with the relatively jaw-dropping price, we are struggling to find anything critical to say about the PAX 3 vaporizer; from the way it handles and looks to its seamless function ability, it seems to be impeccably designed.
It can get a little hot if you use it on the “Super High” mode for long periods of time, but most folks (unless you’ve got the lung capacity of Snoop Dogg) will have turned it off long before it gets (literally) too hot to handle.
Also, you may have heard some people say that the PAX 3 doesn’t produce a smell — this is simply not true. While it’s far, far less stinkier than a joint or bowl, it is by no means 100% odorless. So keep that in mind before you go and do something silly.
All in all, we really can’t say enough good things about our PAX 3 review. This has been (and will continue to be) a highly sought unit among both newbie vapers and experienced aficionados alike. Without a doubt, the PAX 3 seems to be up there as one of the best devices on the market, and is well worth the hefty investment.
