Features of the DaVinci IQ

The IQ is just over 3.5 inches high but weighs a surprising 145 grams, a testament to its durability. Davinci uses zirconia because of its excellent thermal conduction properties and its use in the famed ‘flavor chamber’ guarantees even heat distribution and outstanding flavor and vapor clouds.

There are two mouthpieces, both made from ceramic zirconia. The flat mouthpiece is better for concealment but tends to feel hot on your lips. The Flavor Chamber is located in the vapor path just before it gets to your mouth. When you load your herbs, the chamber only heats up partially so you get the flavor without cooking the herbs. Also, your herbs are coated with vapor which should lead to an enhanced experience in theory. In practice, it was merely ‘okay’ so after six or so sessions, draw resistance became too much so we removed the herbs.

The device comes with a replaceable 3500 mAh battery which lasts from 60-80 minutes on a full charge. You can charge the battery externally or internally; the former is the faster option at two hours while internal battery charging takes far too long at four hours.

The temperature range is from 230 degrees Fahrenheit to 430 degrees and it heats to the minimum temperature in around 16 seconds. However, it can take up to 45 seconds to get to maximum heat. Where the Davinci IQ excels is in the level of temperature control it offers.

IQ Smart Paths

This is a really cool feature because it enables you to pre-program your session. You begin at a selected temperature and the IQ vaporizer will gradually increase its heat by 20 degrees in around 10 minutes. There are four customizable Smart Paths; the first two are best for flavor while 3 & 4 are ideal for vapor cloud production. The Paths run from 350-430 degrees (the first one is 350-370, the second is 370-390 and so on). You will reach the max temperature five minutes in and the device will stay at that level until the end of the session.

Precision Mode enables you to pick an exact temperature and it is maintained for 10 minutes. 2: Pax 3 – We Checked This Brand and DAMN… They’re Legit!

We did a full-on Pax 3 review not too long ago, and it provided an in-depth analysis of its features and details on how to use the state-of-the-art dry herb vaporizer. As you can probably guess, the Pax 3 vaporizer is the brand’s third offering and fortunately, it is a significant improvement over its predecessors. The Pax 3 is on sale from the official website for $199, with the choice to pay an extra $50 for a kit that includes a concentrate insert, a multi-tool, three screens, and a half pack oven lid.

Features of the Pax 3 Vape

Regarding size and shape, the Pax 3 vape is very similar to the Pax 2. The new version’s polished finish makes it look sleek and sophisticated, but there are concerns about how durable it will be over the long-term. It fits snugly in your hand and kind of looks like an expensive cigarette lighter; this is especially the case when you twist off the mouthpiece.

We recommend using an SLX grinder as it is capable of grinding your herb to a consistency that works superbly with the Pax 3.

Replace the lid and press down on the mouthpiece to switch on the device. The LEDs should change from purple to green. Now, enter your preferred temperature by pushing down on the mouthpiece for two seconds. Continue pressing down if you wish to go to a higher temperature. Vapor Quality

Whether you use dry herb or concentrate, you’ll be pleased to know that draw resistance is low. When we tried the herb, we were delighted with the smooth vaping experience and flavor quality. As usual, lower temperatures offered the best flavor while the highest setting was great for intense hits and monstrous vapor clouds. Unfortunately, 420 degrees is not hot enough to get the best out of wax concentrates, but on the plus side it normally results in longer sessions.

Overall Thoughts on the PAX 3

Stylistically and aesthetically, the Pax 3 doesn’t really look better than the Pax 2 – but its performance is a major improvement. The additional battery life and reduced heat-up time alone make it worth upgrading, in our opinion. Also, the half-pack lid means you can have a quick session any time you like. We also like the Haptic Feedback upgrade, which is effectively a vibration alert that adds a certain level of “user friendliness.”

The Pax 3 comes with a whopping 10-year warranty and for $199, it is affordable for most users. The Pax 3’s release date was November 2016 and while it is no longer ahead of its time like it was back then, it is still one of the finest vaporizers you can buy.

3: Linx GAIA – A Nice Device at a Nice Price

You can purchase the GAIA on the brand’s official website for $159.99. It is Linx’s first attempt at a dry herb vape and it was the world’s first dry herb vaporizer that used a quartz herb chamber. In our Linx GAIA review, we decide whether the quartz chamber boosts performance along with the pros and cons of the device.

Features of the LinK GAIA

Design wise, the Linx GAIA resembles one of those hip flasks we use to smuggle vodka during a boring family outing. It is a stunning looking piece of kit all told with crisp and clean edges and a brushed aluminum finish. It also feels durable and the LCD on the side is easy enough to read. There are two temperature adjustment buttons and a power button.

There is also a packing tool stored magnetically at the device’s base and to access the glass mouthpiece, you simply have to remove the magnetic cap. Its style means you can vape discreetly and it is easy to conceal in your pocket.

Unlike other brands who used ceramic or stainless steel in their ovens up to that point, Linx went in a different direction with its quartz chamber. The device combines conduction and convection heating and your herb is vaporized by the heat that gets radiated through the oven’s walls. You should be able to fit around 0.25 grams of dry herb.

The GAIA heats up to a maximum of 428 degrees Fahrenheit and you have total control thanks to the variable temperature buttons at the base of the device. In our experience, it took around 30 seconds to heat up to the maximum temperature. During our testing, we discovered that the GAIA lasted around two hours of continuous moderate use which is excellent. It takes around two hours to charge fully from a dead battery.

The Linx GAIA – How to Use

Remove the magnetic cap and unscrew the mouthpiece. The chamber is now exposed so pack it with your herb; we recommend using the packing tool that’s conveniently located at the base of the GAIA. Put the mouthpiece back on and press the power button five times to turn on the power. Select your preferred temperature and wait for your herb to heat up. Finally, hold down the power button to start vaping.

Linx has created a YouTube video to show you the best way to clean the device. Get a Q-tip, the Linx cleaning brush and some isopropyl. Unscrew the filter from the bottom of the mouthpiece and unscrew the top to reveal three separate pieces. Place each one in the isopropyl. Next, dip the Q-tip in the alcohol and clean the mouthpiece with it. Sweep out the chamber with the cleaning brush and use the Q-tip to clean the inside. Finally, wipe off residue from the mouthpiece parts and reassemble.

Vapor Quality

The quartz chamber certainly helps produce excellent flavor and vapor clouds. The clean taste is combined with minimal draw resistance for an outstanding vaping experience. There is more conduction going on than convection however which is a shame because the former offers better flavor. On the plus side, the chamber heats up the herb evenly which means you can take long or short draws and still enjoy yourself.

Overall Thoughts on the Linx GAIA

It took a long time but Linx finally broke the mold by releasing a vaping device with a quartz heating chamber. The result is a vaporizer that delivers and its cause is aided by the air insulation system which reduces draw resistance, the easy to read LCD screen and full temperature control. The first thing we noticed during our Magic Flight Launch Box review was the uniqueness of the design. It is less a vaporizer and more a work of art and you can purchase it on the brand’s official website for $119.

While the technology might be dated, the design stands the test of time. It is a beautifully designed wooden box available in Cherry, Walnut, or Pine. There is an herb chamber, air intake hole, draw hole, and battery port carved into the box. The stainless-steel mesh screen is located in the chamber area and is connected to two metal rods. The rods make contact with the battery so when you press the power button, the chamber gets heated up.

At just 2.5 inches high, the Magic Flight Launch Box (or MFLB for short) seems pretty tiny but you feel the solid weight of the wood when you grab it. Unlike practically every other vaporizer on the market which uses 18650 batteries, this device uses old-fashioned AA batteries.

The brand recommends using NiMH rechargeable batteries for the device and it offers a ‘fast’ charger. Unfortunately, this still means waiting four hours for the batteries to charge fully. They only last one load of up to 12 draws in our experience. On the one hand, if you have lots of batteries available, it isn’t a problem but most users believe the old-school approach is a pain.

According to the brand, the device is calibrated to reach 380 degrees Fahrenheit within four seconds of being switched on. It is an impressive feat although the lack of control could be a problem for those seeking huge vapor clouds. The chamber holds a maximum of 0.1 grams of dry herb which isn’t a lot; but a little goes a long way with the Magic Flight Box because of its efficiency.

How to Use the Magic Flight Launch Box

Grind your herbs up thoroughly for a better vaping experience and place them in the chamber. Press the power button to engage the battery and within seconds, you should be ready for your first draw. We found that pulls of 5-10 seconds worked best. The lack of temperature control means vaping is a trial and error process. If there is no vapor, the draw is too fast. If the herb begins to combust, the draw is too slow.

Cleaning the chamber is super easy and the screen rarely collects any residue because it acts as an emission surface. You might find that the box’s color gets darker over time but this doesn’t affect performance. Also, you MUST remove the batteries after a hit or risk allowing the load to overheat.

Vapor Quality

For all its flaws, when you learn to use the MFLB vape device, you will be astounded by the flavor. Vapor production is pretty good but the flavor is sensational and you will really ‘feel’ the effects of the herb. The chamber also does a fantastic job of vaporizing all the herbs so there is no need to worry about waste.

Overall Thoughts on the Magic Flight Launch Box

In many ways, this vaporizer is extremely dated. There is no temperature control and learning to use it properly takes time. Playing around with old-fashioned AA batteries is annoying, as is the lengthy recharging time. However, despite all the downsides, the Magic Flight Launch Box offers exemplary performance; it just isn’t a good option for beginners.

In any case, you can purchase the vaping device from the official website for €298. We have seen the Crafty vaporizer on sale on eBay for around €200 although you may not get the same guarantees as you do from the official site. As you can probably tell, the manufacturer is from Europe, Germany in fact, and it is the same firm that released the Mighty portable vaporizer.

Features of the The Crafty Vaporizer

It is 4.3 inches high, weighs 136 grams and fits comfortably in your pocket or purse while also nestling snugly on your hand. The reason why it is relatively light is that the Storz and Bickel Crafty has a hard-plastic shell and design wise, it kind of resembles a hand grenade! It is durable and doesn’t get too hot during a session which is great news.

There are two temperature settings:

• Default: 356 degrees Fahrenheit.
• Boost: 383 degrees Fahrenheit.

However, if you download the Crafty App, everything changes. Suddenly, you’re able to control the temperature anywhere within the 104 – 410 degrees Fahrenheit range. The app also enables you to change the LED brightness on the device and your notification/vibration settings.

The heating up time of the device is rather slow as it can take up to 90 seconds to reach the Default temperature. In an industry where portable vaporizers are capable of heating up in seconds, this is a major problem for Storz and Bickel.

The chamber holds around 0.25 grams of herb although you can bump it up by 0.05 grams if you finely grind them. However, packing the chamber too densely could result in heavy draw resistance although this isn’t an issue we experienced.

The Li-ion battery should provide you with approximately 45 minutes of continuous use but it takes two hours to charge fully. On plus point is that you can use the Crafty while it is charging as long as it has at least 20% battery life left. The USB charging system ensures you can charge the device almost anywhere.

How to Use the Crafty Vaporizer

The Storz Bickel Crafty also comes with important cleaning accessories such as replacement screens and a brush. The grinder is a nice touch, as is the Filling Aid which ensures that loading the device is a piece of cake.

We also love the low level of maintenance that is required. While you should clean out the chamber after every use, it is only necessary to perform a thorough cleaning after several uses. It is easy to take the device apart and dip it in isopropyl when necessary. You can even use concentrates with the Filling Pad but the Crafty’s maximum temperature isn’t hot enough to get the best effects.

Vapor Quality

In a word, outstanding! It is one of the few vaporizers we have come across that provides you with a consistently good vapor cloud and flavor regardless of how full the chamber is. The chamber has a Cooling Unit and it ensures the vapor remains cool as it reaches your lips.

Overall Thoughts on the The Crafty Vaporizer

The Crafty vaporizer comes with a 2-year warranty which is the industry standard and given the company’s reputation for delivering well-built products, you probably won’t be forced to use it.

Ultimately, the Crafty vaporizer has a tremendous number of things going for it. The vapor quality is consistently excellent with minimal draw resistance, it is incredibly easy to load, and the app gives you full temperature control. Alas, it is slightly let down by the lengthy recharging time, long heating up time and the relatively short battery life. Even so, the Crafty is worth considering even if it is a bit on the expensive side.

Features of the Solo 2 Vape

The third Arizer portable vaporizer is a hybrid affair and can be used for dry herb and aromatics. While the Solo 2 is slimmer than its predecessor, it is actually heavier although the new design feels more comfortable in your pocket. Alas, the glass stem is easy to break so it reduces the portability of the device somewhat.

As is always the case with Arizer products, the build quality is outstanding. It is made from premium-quality medical grade components while the vapor path is made from borosilicate glass. The display is easy to read and we had no issues with the responsiveness of the buttons. Incidentally, it comes with two glass stems in case you break or misplace one.

The full temperature control offered by this Arizer Solo Vaporizer is manna from heaven for experienced vapers. You can control the heat to the degree from 122 degrees Fahrenheit to 428 degrees. Even better is the fact that it heats up to 400 degrees within 30 seconds. The chamber holds a maximum of 0.2 grams of herb which suits most users.

It gets even better; the average battery life is well over 150 minutes on a single charge. In other words, you should be getting at least 15, possibly even 20 sessions before you have to charge which is remarkable. The battery seems to take 150+ minutes to charge fully from 0% although you can vape while it charges and use it after just 10 minutes of charging.

How to Use the Arizer Solo 2

Menu options include controlling beep volume, altering the temperature in 1 or 10-degree increments, presetting the start-up time (4, 6 or 8 seconds), screen brightness and shutoff time (5-15 minutes). To use this Solo vaporizer, fill the bottom of the glass tube with your herb and place it in the chamber. Hold down the top and menu buttons together to switch the device on.

Unlike other models which heat up automatically when switched on, you have to press the Up arrow to begin heating the herb. Next, select your preferred temperature and get ready to vape. You can also decide on the length of your session from a minimum of five minutes to a maximum of 15. We found that it reached 300 degrees F in 20 seconds but didn’t reach its max temperature of 428 F for 35 seconds.

Make sure you brush out the chamber after each session. Otherwise, residue collects and it is hard to get rid of. It also increases draw resistance. Beyond this, your best bet is to change screens with regularity as there is little else you need to do regarding maintenance. Arizer Solo accessories include two glass stems (90mm and 110mm long respectively), a potpourri dish, extra screens, cleaning tools, an external DC charger and a nicely designed carrying case.

Vapor Quality

After experimentation, we found that a medium coarse grind was your best starting point. The vapor quality is excellent and we enjoyed the experience when the temperature was around 370 degrees. Both aroma tubes have a long air path which cools down the vapor. Once you go above 400 degrees, vapor production escalates significantly but make sure you don’t go so high as to risk combustion.

Overall Thoughts on the Arizer Solo 2

The upgrades have placed the Solo 2 firmly in the ‘best vaporizer on the market’ category. The battery life is remarkable, the only thing you need to clean is the glass stem, it heats up relatively quickly, and provides users with an insane level of vapor at the highest settings. It also guarantees full temperature control so you can decide if you want flavorful hits or cloud and clouds of gorgeous vapor.

KandyPens promises ‘No Combustion’ with the K-Vape 2.0 and we found that the brand is true to its word as there wasn’t a hint of combustion, even on the highest temperature setting.

There are three settings in total: 360, 380 and 420 degrees Fahrenheit. While the device is mainly made from plastic, there is also a rubber coating. The heat-up time of 45 seconds is merely ‘okay’; there are cheaper devices that ensure you’re ready to vape even quicker.

What really impressed us was the enormous size of the loading chamber. At 0.6 grams, it is bigger than the majority of vaping devices on the market. On the downside, if you only pack it half full, the vapor quality and flavor diminish somewhat so it is not the best option for quick vaping sessions. We were able to get five sessions from a full battery which equates to approximately 50 minutes.

How to Use the K-Vape 2.0

It is a user-friendly device. Remove the mouthpiece to view the chamber and load your dry herb. Finely ground herb produces the best results. When you’re ready, press the power button five times to switch the unit on and wait for the LED indicator to tell you when it is ready to vape.

The color coding on the K-Vape is a bit confusing as the light goes red on the lowest setting and blue when you reach the maximum temperature. Features of the Plenty Vape

Although the Plenty vape plugs into a wall socket like a typical desktop vaporizer, it is a lot more compact and easier to use thanks to the handle and attached mouthpiece. Therefore, you can hold it in your hand during a session; especially since it weighs just 1.4 pounds.

The device takes around five minutes to warm up which is a little slower than desktops such as the Volcano. It has a range of temperature options from 100 to 420 degrees Fahrenheit and it utilizes an old-fashioned yet stylish looking temperature gauge.

The herb chamber has a larger surface area than the Volcano which enables you to sprinkle smaller amounts of herb for yourself, or pack it so that 3-4 people can use it. When using the Plenty for yourself, place the Liquid Pad (included with the kit) on top of the herb to fill up the rest of the chamber. This prevents the herbs from sliding and ensures you enjoy even draws because the herb is heated up correctly.

However, it is the cooling coil, attached to the mouthpiece, which helps the Plenty stand out. It may look unusual but it serves a crucial purpose. It cools down the vapor when it travels through the tube so you don’t have to worry about a warm mouthpiece.

How to Use the Plenty Vaporizer

The filling chamber is at the bottom and a cylinder is attached. Above that, you have the lower and upper screens followed by the filling chamber cap, lower tubing section, cooling coil, upper tubing section and finally, the mouthpiece. It is very easy to access the filling chamber and also to pack the herb. The fact that you don’t have to worry about filling balloons is a real bonus.

Once you get used to this issue, you’ll love using the Plenty.

The quality of vapor produced by the Plenty is as good as we’ve come across. At the beginning of your session, the first two draws will have little vapor but exceptional flavor quality. However, it is over 50% lighter and more than 30% smaller than the Firefly 1. The magnesium alloy body ensures the device retains its toughness while becoming sleeker and more portable than before.

There are six preset temperature settings in a device that is compatible with dry herbs and concentrates. There are five dry herb settings ranging from 340 to 420 degrees Fahrenheit and one dedicated wax setting of 500 degrees. The Firefly 2 heats up incredibly quickly; it takes around three seconds to reach 400 degrees and five seconds to hit the top setting for dry herbs.

When you download the Firefly 2 App, you can control the temperature and utilize the power tuning option which boosts the heat by a maximum of 11%.
